An Introduction

Ethics in Science and Society is a one-semester introduction to moral philosophy for scientists, students, and anyone who wants to reason more carefully about right and wrong. It assumes no background in philosophy. The book steps the reader through building a toolkit that draws on the three major ethical systems of deontology, consequentialism, and virtue ethics, as well as on environmental ethics frameworks that include anthropocentrism, zoocentrism, and biocentrism. Readers are challenged to contemplate over a dozen thought experiments in ethics along with two real-world case studies.
